Hitachi x BBC Storyworks
THE MINI DOCUMENTARY
Documentary
1 x 5 mins
London, 2021
BBC Storyworks makes branded content for corporate sector clients in the form of short, impactful, cinematic documentaries. You See Media was commissioned to create one of these films for a series based on a sustainable future.
Our client was Hitachi Vantara who wanted to talk about Hitachi’s partnership with UK Power Networks to create the world's largest electric vehicle trial. A lot of the film was based on concepts that didn’t yet exist, which meant we had to find a creative way to bring things to life.
We contacted the London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC), who were in the process of launching their new electric van and asked them to loan us their van to shoot travelling shots around London. We used camera rigs to capture unique shots of the city and the EV’s place within it. Alongside this we incorporated slow shutter hyperlapses to illustrate data transfer to capture the attention of the audience. The finished film was one of the most viewed and well received of the series.
EXTRA VALUE
The film was made during the second UK Covid lockdown, so involved careful planning, risk assessments and mitigation. Using a small team, we created a timeless film that showed no signs of being impacted by the pandemic.
